Statement of Faith

What we believe

Our Statement of Faith presents the essential convictions that unite Christian Covenant Life.

We seek biblical faithfulness, reading Scripture prayerfully and in the light of Jesus Christ. Where this statement does not define a secondary matter, CCLC does not invent a position.

The One True God

We believe in one God, the Creator of heaven and earth, eternally existing as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is holy, loving, just, merciful and faithful.

Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God and promised Messiah. He became truly human while remaining truly divine, lived without sin, died for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven and will come again in glory.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the Holy Spirit, who gives life, leads people to Christ, dwells within believers, unites the Church, produces Christlike character and empowers holy living, service and witness.

Holy Scripture

We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and provide the authoritative written foundation for Christian faith, doctrine and conduct.

Humanity, sin and grace

Every human being is created in God’s image and possesses God-given dignity. Humanity has fallen into sin, but God offers forgiveness, reconciliation and new life through Jesus Christ. Salvation is God’s gift of grace, received through repentance and faith.

The Church

The Church is the body of Christ and the people of God. Christ alone is its supreme head. The Church continues in apostolic teaching and fellowship, the breaking of bread and prayer, caring for those in need and bearing witness in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Christian hope

Jesus Christ will return, the dead will be raised and God will judge the world with perfect justice. We look forward to the final defeat of sin, evil and death and the renewal of creation under God’s reign.
